The Buster project: Our Shelburne theory

A couple of months ago, Westy posted an overview I had written of seasons 1 and 2.  At the end of the post, I suggested that TPTB get together to draw a concept map of all the information that has been thrown at the audience about the Shelburne storyline (including McDad’s part of the story).  Does it all make sense? We’re not sure that it does.

From these early musings, @AliciaGecko and I undertook the mammoth task of trying to make some sense of the Shelburne storyline.  We call this project Buster.  Why?  It is our pet name for  BUST A GUT: Big Unresolved Story Themes: A Grand Unified Theory. (All credit to Alicia for this name.  She’s so darned clever!)

We have been back through all the episodes that contain Buster clues and these have been collated for your perusal.  We have analysed this evidence – Jenna Kaye would be totes proud of us – and come up with Buster.  This is truly a labour of love for the two of us and we have worn out our respective keyboards floating ideas backwards and forwards between Oz and England.  If you are interested in our Grand Unified Theory and would like to engage in a serious (and I use this term loosely) discussion about it, you are more than welcome to join in.  We are really keen to hear other people’s theories so please feel free to tell us your perspective on the story.

You may wish to refrain from reading Buster because (a) your head hurts thinking about all the various bits and pieces of the story (ours does!) (b) you don’t want the Big Reveal to be spoilt or (c) you simply don’t care.  However, if you do wish to partake, we would love to read your comments.  Please tell us if we are barking mad or we have missed vital clues, or both.  Bear in mind, though, that it is possible that the whole storyline, which has been with us since the pilot, may not have been written in a joined-up kind of way and as such, may never completely make sense.

To unlock the secrets of Buster, please email Andrea Briz at:  andreabriz24 at hotmail dot com for the password.  The evidence and our Buster theory will be posted in a few days’ time.

We hope to see you there!
